How to wash a wall ready to paint

Preparing the wall to be washed

When it comes to washing the walls of a house it’s pretty easy I normally work a small section about 10m long.

Make sure you tape up power points and light fixtures and try and keep water away from anything electrical.

Soft Washing the wall

I spray the soap and algaecide evenly on the wall including the gutters and eves, we use a pump to do this but if you don’t have a pump you can use a spray back pack.

After wetting the wall with your soap and Algaecide, use a soft bristle broom and lightly scrum the wall, eves and gutters

Once the soap has been on the wall for about 10 – 15 mins start to hose the soap off the wall starting from the gutters down. Don’t use high pressure as this could damage the siding on the wall. Give the wall a good wash down so all the soap is off the wall.

If there is dirt or mould still on the wall it might need a second coat of the soap and algaecide repeat the process again, once the house is dry and clean of all the dirt and mould it’s ready for painting.

It should normally take you about 5 to 6 hours to clean your house depending how big it is or you could call us on 0402741670 to wash your house for you at a great price.
